Torngat Metals

Discover how Casacom is supporting Torngat Metals in its establishment in Sept-Îles and Uashat Mak Mani-Utenam through a social acceptability approach based on transparency, listening and dialogue.

Challenges

Torngat Metals is planning a rare earth separation plant in Sept-Îles, linked to the Strange Lake deposit. The project takes place in a sensitive regional context where economic expectations, environmental requirements and respect for First Nations rights coexist.

At the start (November 2023), the company was facing limited notoriety, distrust towards mining projects and persistent myths. Key audiences were diverse (citizens, elected officials, media, indigenous organizations, business and environmental communities), requiring clear information and structured dialogue to build relationships of trust.
