Janic Chartier
Accounting Manager
I’ve always had two sharply diverging, though not necessarily conflicting passions—numbers and the arts. Knowing who you really are is a big help in feeling fulfilled, that’s for sure. It’s a challenge I’ve been able to meet over the years with a lot of hard work.
I am a singer/songwriter who practiced his craft regularly during his youth before choosing a somewhat more structured path: creating and producing a series of shows on how to enjoy school life. I then produced a variety of shows for different summer festivals across Quebec.
While pursuing my career in music, I also found I enjoyed working in an administrative capacity. I held several office jobs, including general manager of a Montreal area concert hall for three years, then assistant manager at the Montreal Hippodrome for six years. I eventually decided to become an accounting consultant for private companies. By the time I came to the attention of Marie-Josée Gagnon in summer 2001, I had built a solid reputation for rigor and business acumen. Marie-Josée was in the process of founding a new communications firm called CASACOM in Montreal. I’ve been handling the daily accounting needs of CASACOM ever since. Even after all these years, I still genuinely enjoy working with each member of this wonderful team.
Since 2006, I have sung solo on the Orford Express, so I am once again fulfilling both my passions. There is always a way to get what you want! The icing on the cake is that I also do photography—I love immortalizing smiles and faces. In fact, I took many of the photos you’ll find on the CASACOM website.
How about you? Is there room for all your passions in your life?
